TUSCALOOSA Ala, (WBRC) – Excessive honors for a World Warfare II veteran who was captured by the Nazis and have become a prisoner of warfare.
The dignity passed off on the Pine Valley Retirement Group in Tuscaloosa Tuesday. The star of the present? Hal Dabbs.
Hal Dabbs is 98 years previous. He was drafted in 1943 and fought on the entrance traces in Europe throughout World Warfare ll. He was later captured by the Nazis and despatched to Germany.
The Affiliation of the U.S. Military West Central Alabama chapter acknowledged Dabbs’ sacrifice, braveness, and heroism.
“I used to be extraordinarily shocked as a result of I didn’t assume that many would present up,” stated Dabbs.

The ninth U.S. Military liberated the POW camp which included Dabbs on April 12, 1945.
The chapter had plans to additionally honor Mike Rose who served in Vietnam as an Military medic particular forces. However Rose was unable to attend resulting from a household sickness. Mr. Rose acquired the Congressional Medal of Honor on October 23, 2017, on the White Home.
